Home 5 About Prestatyn-Scala.info

A long, long time ago, I originally created this website for my good friend Daniel, who out of interest was also the Scala’s projectionist until it closed in December 2000, and also by way of a contribution to the Friends of the Scala Cinema and Arts Centre charity.

Many years later, their committee kindly allowed me to keep relevant existing content following their group’s disbanding.

This website now serves as more of a historical archive, so that you can learn more about why the Scala is so important to the people of Prestatyn, who founded it and why so much work was done by the local community and the Friends of the Scala in order to preserve such an important and vital part of Prestatyn’s heritage and cinema history.

I don’t claim to be an expert or a historian, but I would like to help keep some Scala memories and nostalgia alive and of course the history available online.

I receive no information or support, no contributions, no financial donations, and now that Scala is a private business operation, I’m afraid news articles are rare.

However it’s wonderful to see the new Scala looking fine, finally being competently managed by people who care about it and most importantly, that it is still in use and being enjoyed daily by the public.

So if you do happen to have any Scala or Saronie related news, information, photographs or other content you would like to see on the site, please do get in touch.

Thank you for taking the time to visit.

Warm regards,

Graham S.
